Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with team members to efficiently resolve operational issues.
- Investigate, design, and implement solutions for data platform issues and enhancements.
- Automate processes in alignment with existing ASC infrastructure, utilizing PowerShell, Python, and Ansible.
- Review and enhance documentation for troubleshooting and resolution procedures at all support levels.
- Provide cross-training to other operations engineers as needed.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, occasionally requiring evening or weekend work.
Qualifications:
- Over 7 years of relevant experience in implementing and managing SQL Server installations.
- Expert-level understanding of disaster recovery, high availability, query performance, indexing, compression, remote queries, and engine functionality.
- Solid grasp of coding techniques and their impact on query and stored procedure performance.
- Strong experience in implementing and supporting SSRS and Power BI.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting tools such as SQL Sentry or similar diagnostic tools, DMVs, tracing, and extended events.
- Ability to work independently, effectively prioritize competing issues, and bring assigned tasks to resolution or escalate as needed.
- Excellent communication skills within and across teams, fostering relationships throughout the organization and building trust among peers through strong job performance.
Additional Experience (Plus):
- Experience working with data virtualization/snapshot software, such as Delphix.
- AWS experience with data-related offerings (RDS Postgres, Athena, etc.).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitLab pipelines, Ansible Tower, Terraform.
- Familiarity with agile process management.
