Purpose of the role:
The purpose of the Legal Counsel role is to ensure that consumer banking activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and to help the bank manage legal and regulatory risks associated with these activities.
This position focuses on customer complaints and remediation, rebuilding the bank's relationship with customers and clients when issues arise. You will be leading, advising, and resolving complaints and complex issues. Exposure to customer support and consumer duty is important, as part of the role involves protecting the bank's reputation and the consumer.
As Legal Counsel, your primary focus will be on:
- Be strategic to lead & provide support to enhance our customer's experiences, dealing with complex situations & complaints.
- Advising on servicing intricate client needs and applying Consumer Duty Principles effectively.
- Handling contentious complaints by setting decisive strategies toward resolution.
- Identifying emerging risks proactively and ensuring DI SP compliance alongside remediation activities.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A qualification as solicitor, barrister or legal executive.
- Experience across consumer duty, complaints & remediation.
- Independence in working across various products/services.
- The ability to lead legal claims, review & resolve them.
- Proficiency in risk identification & management.
