Role Overview:
They are seeking an experienced Equity Analyst to join a lean team of three analysts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in running research projects and be able to hit the ground running. This role involves significant responsibility for a short book, which constitutes a majority of their focus and is expected to generate alpha independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on potential long (2-5 years) and short (1-2 years) investment opportunities.
- Focus on identifying companies that are misunderstood or underfollowed, with an emphasis on small to mid-cap stocks.
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 15 long positions and 30 short positions.
- Collaborate closely with the PM and other analysts to develop and implement investment strategies.
- Provide clear and actionable insights on the short book, demonstrating a serious and methodical approach.
Qualifications:
- 2-6 years of experience at a buyside firm, with a proven track record of stock picking.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct thorough research independently.
- Experience in consumer, industrials, and business services sectors.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Not looking for candidates who are currently on the sellside.
