Position Overview:
My client, a leading insurance brokerage, is looking for a highly skilled and motivated E&S (Excess and Surplus) Personal Lines Underwriter to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of personal lines insurance products and underwriting principles, with a focus on Excess and Surplus lines. The E&S Personal Lines Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating insurance applications, assessing risks, and determining appropriate coverage and pricing for personal lines policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate insurance applications for personal lines coverage, including homeowners, dwelling fire, personal umbrella, and other specialty products.
- Assess risk factors associated with each application, including property value, location, occupancy, and loss history.
- Analyze underwriting data and make informed decisions on coverage eligibility, terms, and pricing.
- Collaborate with underwriting team members and other departments to ensure adherence to company underwriting guidelines and policies.
- Communicate with agents and brokers to gather additional information, clarify policy details, and negotiate terms when necessary.
- Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks related to personal lines insurance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, risk management, actuarial science or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in personal lines underwriting, with a focus on Excess and Surplus lines preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex underwriting data and make sound decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with agents, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of insurance regulations, industry best practices, and underwriting principles.
- Professional designation such as CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) or AU (Associate in Underwriting) a plus.
