Responsibilities:
- Lead the Data Platforms Team in overseeing the operational production database and reporting administration for a financial database systems environment, managing 450+ MSSQL Server instances (version 2014 - 2022).
- Collaborate with technology and business leaders across the organization to identify priorities and requirements, and design, communicate, and deliver solutions.
- Author tactical and strategic roadmaps, and oversee projects for Data Platforms delivery.
- Evaluate, refine, and prioritize team projects and responsibilities using Jira and Jira Service Desk.
- Develop and enforce IT standards, procedures, policies, access controls, and best practices.
- Participate in data governance efforts and the annual audit.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and facilitate professional development for team members.
- Offer guidance to team members, fostering professional growth and career development opportunities.
- Actively promote knowledge sharing and cross-training to enhance resource availability and reduce dependencies on key personnel.
- Provide support to resolve escalated issues and discover root causes of production-impacting events.
- Set training goals and assess skill development efforts as the team expands into AWS RDS solutions.
- Review and enhance documentation for troubleshooting and resolution procedures.
Qualifications:
- Requires over 10 years of combined hands-on and managerial experience in administration and development using SQL Server.
- Working technical experience in designing, building, installing, configuring, and supporting database solutions.
- Experience effectively managing a team of database administrators supporting a production environment.
- Ownership of tactical and strategic roadmap development and subsequent delivery.
- Ability to work in a schedule-driven, regulated, and compliance-driven environment with a sense of urgency in response and delivery.
- Excellent organizational, time management, documentation, and communication skills.
- Committed to sustaining a collaborative, communicative, team-oriented, growth-oriented, customer-service-focused environment.
- Experience in an investment/asset management or financial services company is highly desired.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
Technical Plus:
- Over 1 year of hands-on experience in designing and implementing cloud data solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Redshift, Dynamo DB, Snowflake).
- Solid understanding of multi-site design and hybrid designs, with knowledge of application flow and systems design being desirable.
- Microsoft SQL Server, AWS Data Engineer/Specialist, and PMP certifications are a plus.
